The two types of institution you can study at in Switzerland are:
Cantonal universities – There are ten cantonal universities spread across Switzerland’s 26 cantons (districts)
Federal institutes of technology – There are two technological institutes in Switzerland. ETH in Zurich and EPFL in Lausanne
Switzerland is a multi-lingual country but most undergraduate degrees are taught in German, French or Italian. However, the number of degrees taught in English is growing, particularly in universities of applied sciences.
Tuition fees
The annual tuition fee for international students in Switzerland is comparatively low than other European country but vary depending on your chosen subject and institution. Some scholarships are available to foreign students – the best place to look is with your local Swiss embassy.

Although not a member of the EU, Switzerland does allow EU citizens to attend university in the country. Students from the EU must register with the Residents’ Registration Office at their relevant authority within 14 days of arriving, and will also need to show:

Accommodation and living costs
Student accommodation for undergraduates in Switzerland isn’t cheap. There are two main types of student housing open to you:

University accommodation is a great way of settling into student life easily. You’ll meet fellow students, have your bills included and often be situated on campus. This is a great first option for most international students, particularly undergraduates who are looking to adjust to student life.
Some international students will have families or require more privacy. In this case, it may be worth looking for your own private accommodation away from the student campus.
Living costs: Switzerland has a comparatively high cost of living when compared to other European countries. You will also have to factor in exchange costs, as Switzerland has its own currency in the form of the Swiss franc.
